A survey on E-business information industries
Dongguan, located on the eastern bank of Pearl River, right in the Huizhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong economic corridor, covers 2,465 square kilometers with the population of 6560,000 (including temporary immigrants). Since the opening policy and the reform, especially under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping theory, Dongguan has been sticking to economic construction as its center, bringing its geographic and cultural advantages, developing greatly the external resource economy and Hi-tech industries, and achieved the unremitting, fast-running and well-liking developments. Now it's a rising and well-known modern manufacturing city with great international influence, became the most attractive city in the national top-ten cities and created the conspicuous “Dongguan Miracles”.
The opening and reform policy transferred Dongguan into a modern city from a group of villages historically. The city Party committee and government actively supported the development of the electronic information products manufacturing with high-value technologies and great market demands, fastened the industry-base constructions and driven industrialization by informatization, therefore, the electronic information manufacturing grew up rapidly and became the head industry of the city economy as well as the new point of the industrial growth.
Dongguan has set up relative integrity and complete industrial system which takes E-information manufactures as the lead. Technology intensive and high additional value industries such as communication equipment, computer and other E-information manufactures have become its leading industries. The eight pillar industries in Dongguan with a certain scale achieved the gross value of industrial output: RMB41.0485 billion yuan, 6.4% growth compared to last year. The output for communication equipment, computer and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry is RMB168.81 billion yuan, with 6.5% growth. The electronic information industries above the scale was RMB277.501 billion yuan, 7.6% higher than that of last year, with the profit RMB5.482 billion yuan, 18.3% less than that of last year. According to statistics, the number of the electronic information manufacturing enterprises and the gross of the industrial output of Dongguan won the second place in Guangdong province, while Shenzhen took the first.
The electronic information industries in Dongguan apparently feature the type of external resource, 90% of its electronic information industries are foreign, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan invested companies. Its excellent investment and business environments attracted numerous multinational corporations to set up plants and it's becoming the first transfer choice for international industries. 43 of world top 500 companies settled in DG, of whom 17 are electronic information enterprises, such as: US General Electric, Xerox, Du Pont, Gillette, Japanese Hitachi, Fujitsu, Sanyo, Fuji, Mitsui, Marubeni, NEC, Canon, Ricoh, Holland Phillips, Korean Sam Sung, Finland Nokia and Singapore Flextronics, etc.
The advantage of DG electronic information manufacturing is its wide range of products and high match rate of parts and accessories, involved in consumable types, investment types and basic types, including cellphones, telephone units, color TV sets, audio system combinations, color display tubes, electrical micro-machines, copper clad plates, electronic components, fax machines, microcomputers, printers, displays and key boards, of which the match rate of electronic computers and their peripheral equipments reaches 95%, and 61.8% are international high-end electronic products, more than 10 products exceed 10% to the global electronic computers and their peripheral equipment markets, such as: magnetic heads, machine cases, copper clad plates, drivers, fly-back transformers, scanners, electronic micro-machines, keyboards, mainboards and electronic components, etc. The worldwide well-known computer makers, such as: IBM, Compaq, HP and Bear, etc. take DG as their parts and components purchase base. So there is a saying in the world IT industries. “Wherever you place your order, it will be made in DG”、 “If there is a traffic jam in DG, OOS in the world” which illustrates that DG is playing its important role in the world electronic information manufacturing.
Aggregation is the feature of DG electronic information manufacturing, which developed well in its townships and boosted actively the transformation from its agricultural industries to the municipal industries. Now DG became Information Industrial Base nominated by the department of national information industries. Quite a few of its townships has become the major townships of electronic information industries, such as: Shijie, Shilong, Chang'an, Qingxi, Liaobu and Tangxia, etc. Among which quite a few peripheral equipments makers of electronic computers flocked in Shijie, they are involved in displays, CD drivers, power suppliers, keyboards and mice, and the township was entitled as The Township of China Electronic Information Industries. Furthermore, the productions of electronic computers and their peripheral equipments distribute in some townships forming the industrial chain, for example, the complete machines in Shilong, hard disks in Chang'an, Modems, internet cards and machine cases in Qingxi, floppy drives in Tangxia, EMS memory in Chashan and CPU fans in Dongkeng, and so on so forth.
DG Municipal Party Committee and DG Municipal Gov set up the guiding ideology of the 11 th five-year plan on the city national economy and social development, to stick on the work strategy of one city, three creations and five firsts, turning over the development concepts, boosting four projects, reinforcing the developing strength, upgrading the developing qualities, so that to transfer the economic development into the orbit of entire coordination & sustainable development. As the biggest pillar industry, electronic information manufacturing industries will knit together the new development trends of the international electronic information industries, hold on the structural readjustment orientation and locations of the electronic information manufacturing industries, seize the development opportunities, establish the industrial upgrading target and raise the industrial competitive power, in order to achieve the crossover from the big city to a powerful city of electronic information industries.
